fee-gathering principle has never been denied was never doubted dissented of. To his that case the specific
remedy, the competent substitution of salary to fees was has been applied; and
the success of the application is equally out of dispute.

a person who distinguished – by what? By this: that to the moment of his elevation
to that high dignity still higher dignity exalted stature, he was at the service of every man, for the that spoke to him
that in equal readiness to defend rights and wrong, to advance truth
or falshood, for a guinea. In this difference circumstance is there any thing
that to do away so completely the demand for need of the same remedy?
Is it in the bosom of this particular sort of man the certainty is so entire in such a bosom of all others that we ought can with reason
make sure of reliance can be placed on an effectual resistance against a temptation under which
an average man is supposed to sink of course? Is the profit to
be made by made business less? Is the danger attached
to over eagerness in making it more formidable. Is there a King's
Bench for punishing learned judges, as there is for punishing unlearned
ones? Does a decision become wrong become right transgression law, by issuing passing through

out of unlearned as it does by passing through learned lips? mouths?
