But they deliver Justice to a man, forsooth, at his own door –
Hypocrites! how come he to want it thus delivered? – how
come they to have it to deliver? – They find him in
possession of it with his daily bread: – out of the 365 days
they rob him of it 363 or 364: they give it him two, or
one.

Such is the character of injustice when pushed to an extreme
not content without own profit, it must have the praise of justice

But they had a precedent: the case is in Smollett's
Reports, Rex versus Ferdinand Count Fathom. Defendant,
imagining (what he compassed) to delude and debauch
his fellow-traveller, the prosecutrix, picked her pocket of all
the money she had in the world: Prosecutrix being in a fit,
and senseless, he displayed his tenderness and captivated her
affections, by relieving her at the expence affording her relief to the value of a few shillings.

They forge an engine of oppression, and this very engine
they pass put off upon the people as an instrument of relief.
It is by terms and circuits that they manufacture their delay.
Of the intervals between terms and circuits is composed that delay
which they manufacture to sell for the use of to supply one of their staple articles, which they sell to their best customers
the malâ fide suitors.
