Morn. Herald May 22nd 1828.

The following Correspondence between the Lord
Chancellor and Mr. Daniel Whittle Harvey, appears
in a country paper.† † Per Brougham supposed the Chelmsford that being under the influence of Harvey

"Great George St. March 6.1828.
"My Lord,–
Presuming the the appointment of
Commissioners to inquire into the origin & of
actions of law, will mainly rest with your Lordship,
I venture to suggest the grounds on which
I tender my services. They are, the exclusive
possession of my time – the absence of all personal
interest, – a considerable acquaintance
with the subject, and habits of industry and research.
Of compensation I say nothing, being
well satisfied to have that determined by the
practical value of the services rendered.
I have the honour to be, my Lord, with
respect, your obedient Servant D.W. Harvey.

Lord Lyndhurst's Reply.
George Street, March 7, 1828.
"Dear Sir,
I presume I shall of course be
consulted on the subject of the Commission in
conjunction with Lord Tentenden, Mr. Peel and
others; and I will certainly bear your application
in mind, and state the opinion which
I entertain, and which every member of the
House of Commons must entertain, who has
had an opportunity of estimating your qualification
for the important inquiries with
reference to which the Commission will be
established. I remain, Dear Sir,
