for this purpose to be deemed respectively the first
steps in the prosecution.

2. A man is for this purpose to be understood
to have made amends, as soon as he has begun bonâ fide to
convey the thing meant to be given toexecute such his intention, provided he also bonâ fide
the place of its destination perseveres in it to the utmost of his power.

to so much of the amends as
