And whereas the number of options afford a
hereby intended to be allowed afford a
frequent testimony that the obligation hereby about
to be imposed is not meant as any an extension of
punishment And Whereas by the car care taken
by divers provisions herein after following to facilitate
their finding employers of their own
choice it is unde endeavoured to have them in
possession of every degree of liberty which is compatible
with the indispensable regar care of the superior regard due to the
public safety And Whereas to persons in their fallen state the provision hereby
secured to them as well in respect of employment
during their season of vigour as of gratuitous comfortable subsistence
without the obligation of labour in the decline of life would be
a compensation more than adequate for greater
hardship than will hereby be imposed upon them
for much severer obligations Be it enacted
that to every Prisoner fo Penitentiary Prisoner
previously at a convenient at a period herein
after mentioned previous to the expiration of his
term shall be given the options following: viz:

1. To engage in the Metasylum for a term
not less than a year and so eventually from year to year
according to the conditions herein after mentioned.

2. To find a reputable Housekeeper who under
the name of his Friendly Bondsman Guardian will be
bound for his or her subsistence and good behaviour for a year, and so on from year to year according
to the conditions herein after mentioned.
