To no one good purpose, therefore, would this plan of purification
be productive conducive: of any effect: but to mischief bad purposes
it would be conducive and that in more ways than one.

1. In the first place comes the expence of the compensation money,
with its expence. They would be paid – those noble and learned persons –
as if they had given up everything: the truth being
as we have seen that they would have given up nothing: and there is here we have
the English, the plain English – of the words public interest
and dignity, in the clause n which it is said which says under
"such regulations as may be conducive to the public
"interest, and to the dignity of the offices in which such
"right is now vested".
