Human Nature fails does not, for any thing here said, to go on go on the less
at least according to my judgment, in the as the trade of growing
better: & to this, its days being made to do so is nothing conduces more, than the knowledge

8. This common-place defence to which writers on human nature commonly prepare in vain against the attacks of adversaries, being promised, I proceed to enter on the subject of this book.

Those who recognize not in themselves motives principles here
