been weakened - "of all Laws in general." —
His remarks upon the vindicatory part of
a Law are as singular, & as deserving of
notice, as his omission of the sanctions it in his definition of a Law.
Hear his own words: — "It is observed," says he

"that human legislators have for the most part
"chosen to make the sanction of their laws rather
"vindicatory, than remuneratory": or" and (this is kindly
