Of the several sorts of documents, whatsoever they may
be, to which it may happen to be comprized in the
view taken of the matter by the Board, in by the its merit
Inspectors respectively acting under its authority, it may happen to
be comprized under the name of Vouchers the time which
more particularly if not exclusively have as it in the
pres occasion of this Account called appeared to call for action, are a
Receipts and Invoices.
2. Under the name of a Receipt, seems to be misunderstood,
on the present occasion at least, a reading or written
declaration in writing , whereby one person by means of his name written in the same paper <add> to that intent acknowledges himself
to have received of another, money to such or such an amount,
and purporting to be penned and given at the very time of
the act of receipt, so acknowledged: not given at any
point of time, or at any rate if given at any
point of time, not given on the occasion of any
incident, producing a special demand for such acknowledgment.
2. Under the name of an Invoice seems, on the same
occasion, to be understood a declaration in writing, whereby
one person by means of his name written on the same paper, <add> in that instant </add> and declares himself to have sent off, or to
be about to send off, out of his possession, goods of the description
therein instanced, to this end they may be received
by another person, to whom they are therein stated as consigned: this declaration, in like manner, purporting to be
given at the very time when the goods in
question were had them likely been sent off, or were in contemplation
to be sent off with by the first conveyance: and, as in
the
loss of a receipt, not given at any
point of time, or at least, not on the occasion of any
intervening special occasion or demand.
