<p>Whereas under and by virtue of an Act passed in the 34<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> Year<lb/> | |||
of his Majestys Reign and intituled an Act for erecting a Penitentiary House<lb/> | |||
or Houses for confining and employing Convicts (34<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> G.3.c.84 7<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> July 1794)<lb/> | |||
powers are given to the Commissioners of the Treasury for the time being to fix<lb/> | |||
upon a proper spot of Ground for the purpose of such Penitentiary Establish<lb/> | |||
ment as aforesaid, and to appoint a Feoffee or Feoffees by whom and in<lb/> | |||
whose name such spot shall be purchased and holden in perpetual<lb/> | |||
succession in fee simple. —</p> | |||
<p>And whereas under and by virtue of the said powers a spot of<lb/> | |||
Ground late? the Estate of the Marquis of Salisbury at <sic>Milbank</sic> aforesaid hath<lb/> | |||
lately been purchased in manner aforesaid of the said Marquis by the said<lb/> | |||
Jeremy Bentham as sole Feoffee appointed by the said Commissioners.</p> | |||
<p>And whereas in and by the said Act is further provided that such<lb/> | |||
Feoffee shall over and above the purchase money for the Owner or Owners of such<lb/> | |||
Ground, make or tender such satisfaction, in money or otherwise, to the several<lb/> | |||
Occupiers being Tenants for Years of from Year to Year or at Will of the same<lb/> | |||
or of any parcel or parcels thereof, in respect of their several rights & interests<lb/> | |||
in the premises, as such Feoffee shall in his discretion think fit.</p> | |||
