Dear Sir,
I was favoured with Your Letter — My little
Pupil's Verses were indeed very pretty for one of his Years:
Yet perhaps they would have been still better, had he been
sooner settled in his own Room. If I mistake not, they
were begun only on the Monday preceding the Thursday on
which they were shew'd up. — I mentioned to him
what You writ in relation to his getting a Pair of
strong Shoes made to wear in very wet weather. —
You may depend on my Endeavours to keep him to
his private Studies in the manner You desired.—

Your Desire to have him spend his Christmas Holy-
-days with You in Town, will be very readily complied
with: And the kind Invitation You give me to the
same place, is extremely obliging; but I am afraid
it will hardly be in my Power to accept of it at
