of every Pen'worth of Accomodations tho' ever so frugal, for he can never enjoy any
while his dear Partner is such a Miser to herself. — o' Wednesday came a Letter
from Mrs. Saunders dated from Craven Street in ye Strand to acquaint you of her Return with
him again to London & proposing to spend a Day with you, also with an Invitation to my
Sister to spend a Day with her, if in Town, — my Sister answered her's by a Letter wch.
she left with me to put in ye Penny Post - & wch. I for y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi> Sake of getting the Penny
carried ye next Day myself, [mind that & deduct it out of ye 3/3] Jerry being with me
we took Boat at ye Old Swan & he was much delighted with going by water, after
Drinking Tea at Mrs. Saunders we went to Slaughter's Coffee Shop where we had an
hour or two of french Chat, & Jerry was full of Spirits & attracted the Notice
& engaged ye Conversation of almost evry one there, & learn'd ye Game of Polish-Drafts
This was the Adventure of Thursday — o' Friday having other Business at that End
of the Town I Dined there & went in ye afternoon in Consequence of a Letter read ye Day before from
Mrs. Foster to drink a Dish of Tea with her, when she paid me 10 Gns. in part, he it
seems has been near 2 months at Peterborough - abt 50 miles off, they are going to move
Quarter to Chelsea. She Expects her Father with her Sister from
in a Month's time to settle in England wch Gives her great
pleasure more especially as it will be a means of setting Mr Foster easy
in some little affairs wch. Straiten him at present - she expressed their
great sense of my Tenderness & Consideration for 'e, & indeed I am glad I
suppress'd my Resentment as they have given me Reason to believe 'em sincere
in their good Intentions — Saturday afternoon I took Jerry to Mr Bonnet's where we had a Dish of Tea & french Chat & at night we had our Usual Concert, to wch.
young Ray came by Invitation, & he thoroughly enjoy'd it - no one cod shew
attention — o' Sunday Jerry went with me in ye morning to ye French-
at our Return was agreably surprized to see my Brother, after Dinner
made my little Nancy a Visit - who really seem'd purely well she both Suck'd &
heartily while I was with her, & I begin to have a more favourable
opinion of my Girls Beauty, I don't think her Complexion will be ye least
to Either of her Brother's - Hamilton poor man was ill in Bed wth
late & ye night before had been blistered - hope to hear he is better today.
return I drank Tea at Ms Smith's, she it seems was to set out
Day upon a Journey to Colchester, to Board there a Month, in hopes ye
Journey & Air may be of benefit to her health, it is a place she never was
at before, but there is a Couple of Ladies of her acquaintance - this will retard
Miss Cain's Journey to Lincolnshire for abt. 3 weeks - when I came home
found my Mother not a little fatigued with Company she had had, Mrs. Hutchinson
& Mrs. Ventris & Ms Tirells had drank Tea with her - yesterday Mrs.
