Feb. 1809. Oneself this, or alter it. Juryman's perjury is
unnecessary: since the same thing of thought fit might be done by
recommending for pardon which is the lesser univerally

But, says somebody, why thus indescriminably, and
vilumently and ably censorial: the alternative has
but two branches: destroy in obedience or sure in disobedience to the law one or other can not but be embraced:
and let a man embrace which he will, your censure is prepared for him he stakes himself upon
your censure. Here according to you are two great evils:
on or other of which can not but be produced: till then
if you mean well. if you mean aim at any thing better than the
wretched pleasure of giving vent to ill will, till in which
in your estimate is the least. of the two opposite courses
which - if you yourself being in one of these sta were obliged
to act in it, -which is the course you would pursue.

My answer is - in respect of whit thus doneso far from being dledpointed
at every oneman, my reason is not pointed at any oneman.
So the system it is that my censure is pointed, not toagainst any
one [+] who involuntarily acts under it. What I should do were it my [+] but in so far as he contentedly acts under it
misfortune to find myself in either station - that of Judge
or that of Jury man, it is dless to enquire - It is Among
my comforts is the reflection that I am out of the
mask of both. Among my comforts is the reflection
that to no such melancholy option am I expend as that
between perjury or subernation if perjury

other.

Against the system it is that censure is pointed -
not against any one who, either in one way or the other [+] acts under it: against a system [+] voluntarily and contentedly acts under it.
of constant and universal remediless atrocity, a system under which it
is impossible to do right.
