I.B. Chaise horses

I have acknowledged in a former letter the receipt of a box of books namely
the Encyclopaedia Britt: and Chem: Dict: in German: but I omitted telling
you that were it not for Mrs Hamilton's hearing that it was in the Custom
house and getting it out by force of interest it would have been sold
at the end of the year for the custon house fees. Remember therefore
in future when you send me anything by Shipping to advise some of
our friends of it that they may take it out of the Custom house.

April 22d 1785.

I send this by a Corporal whom I am just dispatching
to Riga to assist in the transporting of goods & people here. He takes
only three horses and one Cabitky
