<p>Whereas it has been the common Practice

of divers Persons who call themselves Horse dealers <sic>unde Color</sic>

of Selling Horses that are Stolen and distemper'd in different
<lb/>
Fairs Markets &amp;c (and when these Gentlemen Horse Dealers
<lb/>
who vouch for each other gets a Glander'd Horse or one that is
<lb/>
not Sound they get an infernal Blackguard (as they have always
<lb/>

Soon as Sold the owner of the said Horse, comes up to the Person

Then the Thief goes away for some Time &#x2014; Then up comes

another of the Party, and says, "what a damned Rascal that

"Fellow must be to sell you that Horse! But I do not

mind, for I keep nothing but Glander'd Horses to work.
<lb/>
I'll give you 2 Guineas for it &#x2014; After the Poor Man has given
<lb/>
13 or 14 Guineas for it, and then up comes the Sharper "I have
<lb/>
done him"! &#x2014; There is generally four or five of these Sort of
<lb/>
People goes together - and after they have done the business
<lb/>
of the Day they all meet together at some particular Place
<lb/>
and equally divide the plunder; and afterwards after taking
<lb/>
in 2 or 3 in that manner and then the same Party takes
<lb/>
the Horse to some other Fair or Market.</p>
 
<p>And I Richard Minton have heard them Say
<lb/>
divers times and make their <sic>Braggs</sic> of clearing £10 each in
<lb/>
a Market Fair, &amp;c. in swindling and possibly in coming
<lb/>
home they would say to me in conversation Minton! you are
<lb/>
"Flat for when you have got a good <sic>Snot</sic>, you will not sell it
<lb/>
"but knock it on the Head as a damned Flat as you are! I have
<lb/>
"known a man of your Business get upwards of £10 a Day &#x2014;
<lb/>
"If any of us should happen to get into Prison you allow us</p>

An Account of the Villainy that is carried on in regard to the
Buying and Selling Horses.
