Of Well-being and Ill-being Ch. in Happiness and Unhappiness
.Well-being what- Happiness exactly to it

For clearness of discourse and conception it is altogether absolutely
necessary to have some word by which the difference
in value between the sum of the of his pleasure of all sorts and the curse of the
of all which down to the the point of time (
the end of his life) a man has experienced may be designated.

This difference may, if it be in the of pleasure pleasure and of the
be termed his exact amount of his well-being or
his clear well-being. or simply his well-being:--
if on the side of pain, the amount of his ill-being
--or simply his ill-being

Instead of well-being the word happiness it will not be equally suitable
to his purpose: It <gap?> not only to
in all its , altogether out of the account, but to give it
to be conditioned, thus whichsoever have for the pleasure that
been experienced it is in a high and as it were
that they have been experienced.

Comparatively speaking few men it is believed wanted for to be found who
to any , Have not been in the enjoyment ofthe whole benefit if these taken together
more or less considerable of well-being,
all the the laborin equal have been
in his and enjoyment of happiness as above
.
