Character of Jeremy Bentham as given on the 2d of
June 1820 in and by the British House of Commons.

The materials of which it is comprised
are four extracts from a speech.

What gave rise to it is was a string of Resolutions
drawn by him, to serve as a basis for a Plan of Radical Parliamentary
Reform on the ground of universality, secrecy
equality and universality of suffrage: which Resolutions
were on that day moved in the House of Commons by Sir Francis Burdett, Member
for Westminster. With the title of Bentham's
Radical Reform, the text of a proposed law grounded
in their Resolution was not long after published

The materials of which this character is comprised are four
extracts from the speech made on that occasion by
Sir Francis Burdett, followed by an extract from a speech made on that same
occasion on the other side by Mr Brougham, and an extract from the a reply
made by Sir Francis Burdett. From which is taken from
Hansard's Parliamen Vol. XXXVIII. These extracts
contain the whole of what on that occasion was said
of Mr Bentham
