can bear the name of punishment. Whether it<lb/>

if man performs an act happen, from <lb/>

this act, he either foresaw the pain as likely <lb/>
to come or he did not. If he foresaw it, the pain <lb/>

should take place or it was not. If it was,
it was either for the sake of the pleasure that <lb/>
arose to him <unclear>immediataly</unclear> out of the contemplation<lb/>
of that event that he wished it to take place<lb/>
or for the sake of the pleasure that arose to him<lb/>

that he looked upon as being likely to be the<lb/>
