(From a Correspondent.)</head>
<p>We the Representatives of New Granada &amp; Venezuela<lb/>
united in a general Congress, having attentively examined the<lb/>
fundamental law of the Republic of Colombia, granted by the<lb/>
Congress of Venezuela; in the City of St Thomas of Angostura<lb/>
on the 17th of the month of December, of the year of our<lb/>
Lord 1819; &amp; considering,</p>
<p>1. That, from their union in one entire Republic, the provinces<lb/>
of Venezuela &amp; New Granada possess all the means of<lb/>
raising themselves to the highest pitch of prosperity &amp; power;</p>
<p>2. That by remaining as separate<del>s</del> Republics, however<lb/>
strict may be the ties that unite them, far from availing themselves<lb/>
of such advantages, they would scarcely be enabled to consolidate<lb/>
or to make their sovereignty respected;</p>

We the Representatives of New Granada & Venezuela
united in a general Congress, having attentively examined the
fundamental law of the Republic of Colombia, granted by the
Congress of Venezuela; in the City of St Thomas of Angostura
on the 17th of the month of December, of the year of our
Lord 1819; & considering,

1. That, from their union in one entire Republic, the provinces
of Venezuela & New Granada possess all the means of
raising themselves to the highest pitch of prosperity & power;

2. That by remaining as separates Republics, however
strict may be the ties that unite them, far from availing themselves
of such advantages, they would scarcely be enabled to consolidate
or to make their sovereignty respected;
