We have 6 Lighters to 120 men. We employ
10 or 12 people in each lighter: some must stand
still when on board, but when we come to the
Embankment we employ every man: after the
1st month the whole were employ'd, on shore and
in the Lighters

When the weather is good they can work
three Hours each tide

At first they were unwilling to work: but now
they are not.

Sometimes 200 or 250 men are working on
shore in screening Ballast for Greenwich Hospital
Roads.

We delivered 1550 Tons of Ballast there
last Summer.

In the whole we have raised 36,050 Tons

We have made a Wharf or Embankment
for the Board of Ordnance of 100 feet in Front
and have laid a great quantity of Ballast to
extend it.

Round the new part of the Warren we
have made a ditch of 5 feet deep 10 wide and
190 in length; and a mote of 7 feet deep 23 wide
and 1107 in length.

The earth has been wheeled to a Proof
Butt which they are erecting of 319 feet long
28 feet high (from foundation) and upon an average
near 50 feet wide, of which we have done above
2/3s.
