In The view thus taken of the subject should it be fortunate
enough to obtain its information from Your Lordships confident eye Your Lordships concurrence

My respect for Your Lordships virtues will not permitt me
to doubt of Your Lordships sincere desire to apply to
the evil disorder a radical cure. Inclination is indubitable out of doubt: but is power sufficient? Your wishes I make sure of –
but have they are they accompanied with power sufficient for carry them into effect?
Mistake me not, my Lord. it is not Your Lordships in
The subject of my doubt question is – not whether Your Lordship be
strong enough in Parliament, but whether Parliament itself
be strong enough against the lawyers? Proofs of its not being Instances where it has
not been so so, present themselves but be abundantly to my view: but on
this subject I may have occasion to address speak to Your Lordship
more particularly in another place.
