gifts, or in comparison of others <gap/> beneficence to others simply deficient in respect of the
degree of personal favour necessary to the purchase of it what chances
can a man conceive himself to have for the possession of it, be
the service rendered by him to the <gap/> community ever so imp<gap/>
and ever so incontestable?

Producing thus the effect of a bounty offered for the encouragment
