110. Definition Of Forgery.

behalf do testify, that a person to whom this paper has been
delivered has paid into my hands, or those of an Officer
under my direction, such or such a Sum for the Use of

[(I) Alterationing] 1. — No matter whether it be an Addition, Diminution or Variation. It matters not of what nature the Alteration
is; whether it be by an Addition, a Diminution or by a Variasustitution:
nor whether in the characters only, or also in the ground.
Thus to add a Sheet to a Deed consisting of several Sheets,
or to take away a Sheet, may be Forgery.

2. — Nor in what part. It matters not in what part of the discourse
the Alteration is, so it be material. Nor (in such instruments as
in order to have their effect require to be authenticated) whether
the alteration be in the authenticating part itself or in
any part of that in which it is meant to be authenticated.
In a Deed, for instance, it matters not whether the alteration
be in any material part of the body of the Deed, or in the
