<p>Rule 1.  Whensoever a definition is given<lb/>

Rules of Construction & Interpretation

Rule 1. Whensoever a definition is given
of a genus of offence, as designated by its
appropriate name, a number of species
included in it are brought to view in the
character of examples, to the treating of an
act on the footing of an offence, comprehended
under that genus, it is not necessary
that the act be included under any one of
the species so exemplified. The length bulk voluminousness of
a code would be such as to render it diminish to any amount its
usefulness, if every species that could be
found to belong to each genus were brought
to view and inserted under it.
