3. Blasphemy. Of all the shapes in pretences by which oppression
has ever been exercised by as this may be set down
as the most flagitious: the best adapted to the done
and contempt as just with as much justice as can accompany such sentiments
in the head of those who make application of it to the purpose.
Blasphemy being a word of German origins, the import
of it is altogether unintelligible to the great bulk of those on whom punishment
is inflicted the the any act to which this designation has been
applied. By blasphemy who the phrase here all the
words belonging standing by itself is meant injury to reputation.
But upon those occasions here in question, to the word blasphemy has been attached added
the words blasphemy against God: blasphemy then consists
in something or in anything by which in respect of his reputation
God has by the hands acts of men has been suffering injury,
