35 And be it further enacted, That every Offender who

shall be ordered to either of the such Penitentiary houses
<lb/>
shall, during the Time of his or her Confinement there=
<lb/>
in, be fed and sustained with Bread, and any coarse
<lb/>
Meat, or other inferior food, and Water, so Small
<lb/>
Beer; and also be clothed with a coarse and uniform Ap=
<lb/>
arel, with certain obvious Marks or Badges attired to
<lb/>
the fame, as well to humiliate the wearers as to facili=
<lb/>
tate Discovery in case of Escapes; the Whole to be or=
<lb/>
dered in such Manner as the Committee aforesaid shall
<lb/>
from Time to Time appoint for those Purposes; and no
<lb/>
such Offender shall, during the Time of his or her Con=
<lb/>
finement, be permitted to have any other food, Drink,
<lb/>
or Clothing, than such as shall be appointed; and if
<lb/>
any Person or Persons shall willfully supply any such
<lb/>
Offender, at any Time during the Term of his or her
<lb/>
Confinement, with any food, Drink, or Clothing, other
<lb/>
than such as shall be to appointed, or with any Money,
<lb/>
Offence, forfeit a SUm not exceeding Ten Pounds, nor
<lb/>
less than Fourty Shillings.

of either of such Penitentiary houses shall supply any of

the Offenders therein with any Money, Clothing, Pro=
<lb/>
visions, or Diet, on with any Spirituous or other Liquors
<lb/>
whatsoever, except such Money, Clothing, Provisions,
<lb/>
or Diet, or such Water adn Small Beer, as the Go=
<lb/>
vernor of the house shall from Time to Time permit or
<lb/>
direct, and except such Diet and Liquors as the Surgeon
<lb/>
or Apothecary attending such house shall think proper to
<lb/>
order for any such Offender, in case of Illness; and in
<lb/>
case any such Officer or Servant shall be found guilty of
<lb/>
carrying to any such Offender, or of knowingly permit=
<lb/>
ting to be carried to any such Offender, any Money
<lb/>
Clothing, Provisions, or Diet, or Liquors whatsoever,
<lb/>
contrary to the Intent of this Act, such Officer or Ser=
<lb/>
vant shall immediatelt be suspended by the said Gover=
<lb/>
nor; who shall report the same to the Committee at
<lb/>
their next Meeting; and such Committee shall enquire
<lb/>
thereof upon Dath, and shall punish such Officer of Ser=
<lb/>
