1. To serve as a Basis of negotiation for the Building contract<lb/>
2. To enable me to settle a number of details respecting which<lb/>
a variety of information not to be obtained but from persons<lb/>
conversant in building will be necessary to me.<lb/>
3. To serve as a basis of negotiation for the management-contract<lb/>
4. To serve as a basis of calculation, or at least of conjecture,<lb/>
with regard to the <sic>expence</sic> of Building.<lb/></p>
 
<p>As to the details <add>of Construction</add> they cannot be definitively settled, nor &#x2014;<lb/>
consequently the building contract made till some sort of<lb/>
settlement is come to with regard to the choice of the Manufacture.<lb/>
For suppose a peculiarly-promising manufacture<lb/>
offers and the mode of construction fixed upon is such as<lb/>
puts a negative upon it? It will be my study however to<lb/>
give it every latitude, and I have hit upon expedients for<lb/>
the purpose.</p> 
 
<p>What Architect to apply to? Such a man as M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi><lb/>
Blackburne perhaps would give <sic>advise</sic>, and some pupil<lb/>
of his might be got to execute the Model. I could come at<lb/>
M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Blackburne I believe by means of a common friend.<lb/>
I have some little knowledge of a very ingenious Man, a<lb/>
M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Revely, but I know not whether he has ever turned his<lb/>
thoughts to this particular line.</p>
