Wax Candles. yes you certainly will have them
here. they may be bought I think for 13 pence ib.
As to your general relaxation I make no doubt
you would find great benefit from your journey.
With respect to conversation, you will meet with
men here as will certainly be infinitely more interesting
to you than that of your present acquaintance; but
nevertheless the result of it will be your enjoying
afterwards your pursits in England far
beyond what you can do without such a comparison
or rather without the advantage which you will
derive from what you will learn her.
Power of Atty I had did not execute on account<lb/. of my not having as yet made any such
engagements as I considered to have been the <lb/< reason for executing it. I now send it you.
there are no Dilligences in the country, Mlb/> but Russian carriers go as far as Mesnil
Dantzic or even Vienna & berlin.
No dependence however can be put on
fuinding them at either of these places,
and they are very tedious as they never
change horses.
You tell me of a wonderfull decipherer
of whom you seem to have written
spoken in a former letter, if so that
letter never came to hand.

La Mechanique appliquee aux Arts
aux Manufactures a l'Agriculture
er a la Guerre. par M. Barthelot
a Paris 1782. 2 Vol 4t
I have had only a glimpse at this book
but it seemed to contain a vast number
of mechanical inventions, some of them
new to me, and the stile of the descriptions
seemed to be particularly simple.
Steam Engine the simple one
you speak of and the distillery
apparatus by the same inventor
would be great acquisitions.
If you were to bring with you a good
fowling piece and a brace of small
pocket pistols also another brace
larger proper for a travelling carriage
they would serve you in the road
and might be sold here to advantage.
A friend of mine here beg'd me
very much to procure him <gap/.
the above articles from England.
