If in consequence of such examination as<lb/><note>15<lb/>Examinant's fitness appearing<lb/>doubtful on report of<lb/>the Examining Magistrate,<lb/>power to Governor to accept<lb/>or not --</note><lb/>aforesaid, the Examinant should in the judgment of the<lb/>Magistrate taking the same appear fit to be accepted,<lb/>such Magistrate shall deliver the same or a copy thereof<lb/>attested by him to the Examinant: to the end that the<lb/>examinant may, after procuring the accreditation certificate<lb/>abovementioned, <sic>transmitt</sic> the same to the Governor. But<lb/>if otherwise, such Magistrate shall detain the same<lb/>(permitting the Examinant to take an attested copy thereof)<lb/>and shall <sic>transmitt</sic> the same (which he may do by Post)<lb/>to the Governor at the Penitentiary House expressing<lb/>his doubt or persuasion thereupon: and in such case it<lb/>shall be at the discretion of the Governor to accept such<lb/>Examinant or not as he may think proper.</p><p>Art. 16. So also, in case of non acceptance,<lb/><note>16<lb/>-- also to accept or not the<lb/>proffer of another --</note><lb/>whether to give to the Prisoner or not the option of<lb/>proffering another person in the room of the person so<lb/>rejected.</p><p>Art. 17. And Whereas the Governor will<lb/><note>17<lb/>Examinant living within<lb/>ten miles of the Penitentiary<lb/>House, Governor<lb/>may require him to be<lb/>there re-examined --</note><lb/>have a common interest with the Public in the good<lb/>behaviour of the liberated Penitentiary-Man and thereby<lb/>in the character & sufficiency of his Friendly Guardian,<lb/>And Whereas in the Metropolis & its vicinity<lb/>persons of doubtful character will by reason of the<lb/>greatness</p> | ||
