not yet heard from that Rogue Wilson —
I have been working at Evidence, & I have
got deep in all the of metaphysics
— I find that ocean must be
passed —pray with me a safe & speedy arrival
on the land of common &
useful practical knowledge — Why did
I not send your letters sooner? — Why, because
I have been in the country for several
days & did not return till about 1/2 hour
ago — & a half an hour hence I shall
set out for the 2nd at Abingdon
Damn this itinerant life — To be sure we are
all to be Tully's & Hydes at past — But
it is hard that we must begin by being
Mountbanks & Merry Andrews —

Thursday I shall return to London &
again return to a Friend's in the country
that evening, where I have got all my
books — But I shall be in town every two
