Had my father in really-ty conceived any such resentment, as you apprhend for which
I am satisfied he has little reason & less inclination, the pretence of
adopting it would but ill justify me in the breach of the ties gratitude those obligations <add>of gratitude & affection</add>
by which I am bound to you. but it was your kindness that accompaniedy
a gentle admonition with the best suggestion (of some excuse however insufficient. that said
less suggested in my behalf. I am afraid have now indeed the but too much reason
to accuse myself of forwardness backwardness, as I had before in obtruding a that look upon you without
any previous introduction or apology: which however I had should have not done, could If I could with any conscience I could have detained the honest old Messenger any longer. I thought the truth is,
that to seeing you take some a pleasure in those pursuits as well as
myself I thought it might afford you some entertainment to pursue an account of that
System which had made so great a much noise & occasioned so great a revolution
in the Botanical world. the impetuosity of youth not permitting allowing
me time to , reflect that the it had me enabled me to scramble through that long
ambages of hard words, the inducement might be not be sufficient to
operate upon my Cousin whose experienced years could teach him to make a
proper estimation-e of the importance of the object, & the trouble in
attaining it. My passion which was then at it's heigth is now considerably
abated; & I can now am content to present consider that as an occasional amusement,
which before I made rather too principal a study. It is with pleasure
