And to the end that neither may this provision be<lb/> inefficient for want of an obligatory penalty, nor such penalty a snare<lb/> to his Majesty's subjects for want of being sufficiently made known to <lb/> any person from whom obedience thereto is required Be it enacted<lb/> that as often as either a Letter is sent on the part of the Governor by<lb/> which any thing is required to be signed by any person for the purposes<lb/> of this Act or any printed or written form is sent or delivered<lb/> on the part of the said Governor to the end that the same may be<lb/> signed by any person, there shall on the same paper with such letters<lb/> form be inserted a <hi rend="underline">memento</hi> or <foreign>Nota-bene</foreign> has been duly inserted,<lb/> the receipt thereof along with such letter or form shall <hi rend="underline">prima facie</hi> be<lb/> presumed, and every person omitting to comply with the requisition <lb/> therein contained shall on conviction before any one Justice of the Peace<lb/> forfeit to the informer nor more than 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> nor less than 2<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>L and any<lb/> such person giving for the purpose of concealing himself, and to<lb/> prevent his being found by the Post or otherwise a false or imperfect<lb/> direction shall in like manner forfeit according to his circumstances<lb/> not more than £5, nor less than 5<hi rend="superscript">s</hi></p> | |||
