And Whereas in an Establishment of such<lb/>magnitude and so composed the smallest interruption<lb/>of coercive power might be attended with fatal consequences<lb/> Be it enacted that the Governor may from<lb/>time to time under his hand nominate any number<lb/>of persons on whom in case of the sudden death<lb/>or absence or inability through sickness of him or<lb/>of each other his powers and obligations or such<lb/> of them as are necessary for the due government<lb/>and management of the establishment shall provisionally<lb/>devolve: in default of which nomination<lb/>they shall devolve upon the Sub-Governor, the Chaplain,<lb/>the Surgeon, or any other person next in trust,<lb/>upon the one in default of the other in the order<lb/>abovementioned: or if there should be more such Panopticoners<lb/>than one, with different Officers respectively<lb/>then in each Panopticon upon the Officers thereto respectively<lb/>appertaining, in order also as above mentioned.</p> | |||

Governor a Corporation
Sole.
Art. 4. The Governor for the time being shall be a
