April 30 178 Petersburgh
Cancelled parts of
S.B.'s letter

Now as to the chief subject of my last letters. I shall wish as
much as ever that you may come, & will say that I am
sure if my Father does but assist us with respect to money
in the manner I proposed, that he certainly will not repent
of it.

---page break---

I do now tell you that you absolutely must come
and if you cant be furnished with money in the very
advantageous manner I suggested, you must beg - borrow
& steal: in that you must raise money on your own credit,
& live upon the capital.

In another post or two I shall probably direct a letter
for you to at Amsterdam to the care of Mr Wilkinson of the
house of Rich & Wilkinson: only in case of your going there
directly you may call for your letter. All this which, I make no
doubt of your going. I have all along wished you to come chiefly
on your own account: but just now I would give one of my ears
to have you here to assist me.

You must have no fancy Stockings & Shoes ones — all white & plain except such as
you may have already. some understockings, & some which to wear
under boots.
