Dear Sir
The Letters which have been receed from my son Sam
since he has been abroad, have afforded me so —
Satisfaction & Entertainment, as made me think that I have been
worth transcribing them & in hopes yt the perusal of them
may give afford you some amusement at a vacant hour.
your The kindness to him <add> you have heard he has ever from you I trust will not appear
to have been thrown away upon him, flatterd I imagine
myself yt the perusal of them may afford you some amusement
at a vacant hour, from the variety of Subjects they
contain — which he has been enabled to relate
exerts some advantage, by the favourable reception
he has met with & yr particular attention paid
to him where ever he has been & which has been
such, as I believe you will be inclined to think
Letters of recommendation alone, would hardly
scarcely have procured him, & consequently that it was
in some measure owing to the credit he has
given these recommendations by his own
behaviour & address but if after all you
still have reason in your opinion, to reproach me
for giving you this I hope I shall find
some in your & the partiality of a Parent Father is
Sir
Your affectionate as
well as obedt & able Servt
Jh Bentham
