J.B. to the E. of Shelburne then at Cheltenham
in answer to his of July 26th,
Lincolns Inn July 29 1781
My Lord
Late last night I received the honour of
your Lordship's letter. In answer to the obliging invitation
it contains, I will take the liberty of telling your Lordship
how I am circumstanced. My health not being
altogether as I would wish, my Physician has for some
time past been wishing me to take the benefit of sea-bathing.
Business however has confined me to town hitherto,
and will confine me till next Thursday: on which day
I am under a promise to pay a visit to a friend of
mine who lives in the neighbourhood of Cheltenham, where
the water, I am told, is salt enough for my purpose.
There, it was my intention, before I received your Lordship's
letter
