The badness of the roads, and the time it takes to make acquaintances
with people sufficiently to establish a correspondence with them, and 150
other things which you will hear of in a post or two have not
only prevented my getting farther on in my journey, but have also
not left me even time to write to you, and yet I have written severall

I am now at Mr Simpson's (not the simpson to whom I had
a letter from Henniker) writing in his country house. He told
me the post was going out in an hour and I was determined
