"Law is a rule of action prescribed by some
"superior, which the inferior is bound
"to obey." The Obligor, and the Obligee, he who
prescribes, and he who is bound to obey,
the Superior, and the inferior must therefore
be seperate, and distinct beings. Yet
our Author very philosophically supposes
a being prescribing laws to himself.
"A being/says he/independent of any
"other, has no rule to pursue, but such as
"he prescribes to himself." — This may be
