I have the Honour to inform you I arrived here the 20th; Inst; from Irkuts, and to Day I mean to follow Mr. Shellekoff; who sets out for Akhorst the same day I arrived; two Hundred and Ninety Verst; from Irkuts; I bought a Vessel; and proceeded down the Lena to where the Command Lay; where I took ten Soldiers on board; Ordering the Ensign to buy a Vessel and follow as fast as possible; the Sturman I sent to the Baikal Sea as he informed me the Gen; Governor; would not allow him to go farther. I am forced to take 6 Horses with me to Carry provisions etc. as there is no wheel Carriages in this part of the World; the Expenses Attending this Expedition will be Exceeding Great; as Every thing, here is at the dearest Rate
