Experienda

An experiment to
be tried is how it
fares - with Preservanda
when taken
out of the Frigidarium
and exposed to higher
a known degrees of
temperature for a
known portion of
time ( say Kitchen
temperature) and then
returned.

The use of this is
to ascertain how
busy they will be &
to be kept at the
Retail Shops for
Sub, air whether
they can be accepted
if returned.

The most eligible
result is - that
the Air of the Frigidarium
(open or
confined) should
serve without the
Balneum: therefore
the stowage room
in airi should
be as ample as
that in Balneo.
The Balneum is
employed only as
a safeguard, and
a pis-aller.

The contents of the Balneum, Drains
being previously
ascertained by measurement,
so long as
the water did not rise
above the Waste pipe
so as to be discharged,
the rise would be
an exact indication
of the rate of melting
i:e: of the quantity
includ in a given time.
From thence the
temperature of the
atmosphere that
time being known
a pretty exact calculation
might be
made of the probable
rate of melting for
the whole twelve month

By this means
in determination
might be formed
whether to later
advantage of a
late frost to replenish
the Ice -

Instead of a
common pond,
suppose a bricked
reservoir of a known
content.-

Which might be made to serve as a Balneum of a higher temperature? But would the bulk to freeze - unless air with a wooden cover and stone on it. Closing for the Ice-shift a case of straw take the stretching here. For a plug a bag of sawdust or chaff - or two of those bags - to stow the closer.
