<p>Petersburg March 9<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> 1784</p><p | <p>Petersburg March 9<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> 1784</p><p> I have sent by this post to my brother a draught on a banker for 600<lb/> <sic>Rubles</sic> which according to the present bad course of exchange will amount<lb/>to barely an hundred pounds sterling. This money is (as I promised) to <lb/>defray the <sic>expences</sic> attending your coming out as far as Petersburgh, <lb/> and to buy such articles as it may be proper you should bring out<lb/> with you. A Salary of 600 <sic>rubles</sic> a year you will have as long<lb/> as you chose to stay with me and not being in the service of the <lb/> Empress you will dependant on nobody but me this I obtained from <lb/> Prince Potemkin knowing that you would not come on any other terms.<lb/> You can lodge & live with me free of any <sic>expence</sic>: you shall have <lb/> one or two servants to wait on you.
