9 law of Nature

polit.

vir. "that " man should pursue his own happiness."
Now all one may venture to appeal to anyone
that lives and breathes
whether this answerever was or will or can be a
man who could do otherwise. That we were destined
to pursue happiness wherever we think we see it is
what we pretty well knew some timebefore our author told
us. But what we have heard now for the first time
and what now are particularlyour obligations to him for are unquestionable
is to learn that it is but to "pursue" [find and have ]and catch.
[If any thing ought to surprize us after we have
what by now seen, there are two things that next follow. what what comes next may do it.two things that One thingis
to see it's all-embracing and "inevitably-conformed-
to "precepts," metamorphosed into arguings.
Another is to learn that "the performance of "an action" is a
part of a Law.

That a Law (this Law of Nature for instance) is a thing that consists of parts of which, the performance of an action is one.

A third is, that every action that is distinctive of
man's real happiness, is of these actions, that are
forbidden by this same Law of Nature: which leaves
foras, for the its only remaining subjects of the prohibition of to the worlds Divine Law
and the Municipal Laws: in the first place
such actions, if such there are there are any, whichas have no concern
with real happiness: in the last place,
thosesuch aswhich produce it.
