We can at any rate better tell what are own
sensations than what is the nature, & what the
good pleasure, any farther than we see it actively
executed, of the Deity.

By the examining enquiring therefore what are the sensations
of the persons affected, upon the commission
of any each crime, we shall stand a better chance
of coming at the understanding+ + knowledge acquiring a true notion of it's malignity
[both absolute that is considered by itself, & comparative
that is considered put in comparison with that of every
other] that is of the degree of evil influece it
has upon our happiness, that is, in fine our sensations,
than by going in chase after texts out of a
book in which no intuition of marking the

The divine Author of our Religion has left
either none or but few & scatter'd + + hints much less rules rules for the
attainment of the happiness of this life in as
far as it depends upon the conduct of the state to
the rulers governors to the ruled it's subjects

we are unable to account for it.

Founding our notions upon Investigating Enquiring what is politically right & wrong
through the medium by * enquiring what is the will of the Deity in that
behalf as it stands in revelation, we have a
