Sir London Aug. 16 1790

I received the favour of your letter of Agt
12th <sic>instt.
I am much obliged by your permission to take
a copy of your Essay on Penitentiary Houses, which I shall get
done immediately & return you the manuscript

I shall also avail myself of the liberty which you
have given to me of publishing it (after you have seen it)
in Ireland; it is the most likely method to procure the adoption
of the system therein its fullest extent.

I am not yet authorized by the persons in Irish
government to bring forward the measure & to provide for the
expense of it, but I expect that they will direct me to do so —
I shall be able, very soon ( on my return to Ireland) to let
you know their determination. The Bill if it is introduced
next session will probably pass early in the month of
March
