Conciseness. Instruments for Mode or modes of investing
a portion of discourse, and in particular a portion
of legislative discourse, with this so desirable
a quality. 1 Definition on exposition as the case may be - fixitive definition - taking
a word which as yet is more or less ambiguous
or obscure, attach to it an apt exposition,
distinguishing, by an appropriate type common
to all, every word, the import of which has this been
fixed, in place of the phrase, of which the expository
matter is composed, employ every where the
word thus expounded.

2. Neology: invention and employment
of a word as yet new.

Although, by the supposition, the word thus
invented and employed is a new one, the more
readily promptly and compleatly and correctly and clearly
the import meant to be conveyed by it, is suggested
by readers of all classes, the better.

What is therefore desirable, is that it
should be a word, the fellow conjugates of which
are not only already in the language, but of the
number of those which are in common use
among all classes of persons for whose use the
case in question is intended.

. Neology
