The advertisement for a meeting to on the subject
of the Bill for erecting a Penitentiary Prison in
the Parish of Battersea being grounded on a misapprehension with regard to a matter of fact , it
is presumed that when the Gentlemen state of the
case appears a knowledge of the true state of the
case the following statement is submitted to such
Gentlemen as may attend the meeting , that they may
be the better able to judge how far an opposition
to the whether an oppositon to the Bill for that purpose would
be likely to be successful attended with success present
such a prospect of success as to render it worth
their while to give put themselves to any farther
trouble of the success that to be expected from an opposition to the measure.
The notion in which the Advertisement is given The supposition as stated in the Advertisement for a
meeting this day on the subject of the B Penitentiary Bill , is
did is. is that under the former Bill it was the
"intention of the Legislature that the said Prison or
"Prisons should be placed in some waste or unfrequented
"ground , where no House was , and where it
was not probable any house would ever be erected
