especially if from that space is to be taken three
or four foot towards the gallery to form a barrier
above for preventing the prisoners in different cells on
each side from holding converse unobserved.

The thickness of the walls can not be less than
4 foot: considering that out of that is to be taken
space for the water closets and for the warming
pipes, and for the water-pipes that come from the
cistern in the roof.
