Fortitude, what
On this occasion In what sort of action occasion does by what means in what case is a man considered
as entitling himself to the praise of fortitude to the
denomination of a man of courage? Answer—In so
far as on the occasion of his exposing placing himself voluntarily
in a situation in which he stands will would stand exposed to be
subjected to suffer evil in some shape or other, viz. and in
particular to extinction death, to considerable bodily pain, or to both in one
