the 25th. of Octr. 1824.

Hond. Sir,
We have the pleasure to enclose you a letter, which our
Govt.. transmitted us for you among our despatches, to
which we have taken the liberty to add a translation.

We see with great Satisfaction the gratitude which
our government expresses towards You on the part of
our fellow-citizens, & we beg to add that we are firmly
persuaded that it is well deserved on your part.

You have performed the duty of a great and liberal character
for you have pleaded the cause of Justice & liberty,
& our countrymen now perform their duty in testifying to
You their gratitude for your benevolent exertions in
favor of their independence. Your name, which in Ancient
Greece would have ranked amongst those of her most
esteemed philosophers, we are assured, will ever be
an object of Veneration among the Inhabitants of regenerate
Greece.

Allow us, Hond. Sir, to assure you of the profound
respect & consideration, with which we have the honor to be,
Your obedt.. & faithful Servts..
John Orlando
And Luriottis
I. Zaimis

To J: Bentham Esqre..
