Of the thoughts in question supposing them really fixt for
any length of time upon so then the object the natural — not to say the
necessary effect would be madness — raving or melancholy
madness in effect which no persons now charged is
suspected of any criminal offence in any stamp has
been and continues to be produced is but too many instances
by these such thoughts
